"Cards Your Dealt" Original Canvas Wall Art by IKONICK.
In poker and in life, It's not the person with the best hand who wins—it's the person who plays the best hand.
The odds of you being dealt the best possible hand in a game of poker, a "Royal Flush," is 1 in 649,740. The odds of you winning any given game? 1 in however many players are seated at the table. It's all about how you play the cards you're dealt.
Life is a dealer. Everyone gets a hand, and those are the only cards you can play. Some people get lucky and win that 1 in 649,740 lottery. Others have to make do with shit. And just like with the dealer at a casino, getting upset at the circumstances won't do you any good. You have to play the cards you're dealt.
When life gives you a bad hand, you have two options. First, you can fold. Give up and wait around to be dealt something better. Lose you ante and waste the chance.
Or you can bluff and stay in the game. You never know when something better might turn up down the line and play into your strengths. All of a sudden your bad hand is the strongest at the table and you're taking the pot. You’ll never know unless you play the game. And there’s no worse feeling than seeing your folded cards turn into a winning hand. You have to take a chance.
But a bluff doesn't work if you hesitate. You have to play with confidence. If you want people to take you seriously, sometimes you need to bet on yourself and go all-in.
"Cards You're Dealt" original canvas wall artwork from IKONICK visualizes an important lesson. There's nothing you can do about the hand you're given in life. It's how much you can do with it that determines how much you'll come out ahead. Adopt a maximizer's mindset and make the most of everything at your disposal. If the cards aren't coming up your way, stay in the game. There's always another hand to play.
