"Go Exploring" Inspirational Kids Canvas Art by IKONICK
Dogs are fearless explorers. As long as they are by their human's side, they are always up for an adventure. It doesn't matter where they are going—there is no worry in a dog's mind. They don't need to know the plan—they are just happy to have somewhere to go and something to do!
Consider these two stories of history's four-legged pioneers:
The year was 1803 and Lewis and Clark were preparing for their overland expedition from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean. They had assembled the crew, the boats were being built, and the route was planned. But they were missing something important: A canine companion.
So Captain Meriwether Lewis bought a Newfoundland dog for $20, named him Seaman, and enlisted him for the journey. Seaman traveled with them the entire route, across the country to the west coast and back, surviving a serious beaver bite, swarms of mosquitoes, and even a dog-napping. If it wasn't for Seaman looking out for danger on the expedition and keeping morale high, who knows how different history would have been. What a good boy!
Fast forward to 1957. A scrappy little stray dog living on the streets of Moscow was called upon for an exploration mission she never could have seen coming. Laika, as she was named, was selected and trained to become a cosmonaut. She was given a rocket, sent to space, and became the first animal to orbit the Earth.
Without Laika paving the way for humans to be sent to space, we might never have known whether it was possible to survive in orbit. If it wasn't for her courage we might never have put a man on the moon. Good girl!
Imagine what your little one could accomplish with the optimistic, up-for-anything attitude of these heroic dogs. What if your child started every day with that sureness that wherever they are headed is going to be the best place they've ever been?
"Go Exploring," from the Paws Collection, reminds kids that great things are out there if they stay positive and are always willing to go on an adventure.
