Pause If You Must Motivational Canvas Art by Ikonick
A long time ago, in the era of big headphones and bigger hair, a little plastic cassette with a little magnetic tape changed the way people listened to music.
Previously, large bulky turntables limited listening to a living room or basement. The cassette changed all that. They could be played from a Walkman wherever the listener went. It allowed music to travel in the biggest way since AM/FM radio waves. You could rollerblade to the burger shack, listening to Michael Jackson's "Thriller," hit pause, have a choice meal with a fly date, then pick right back up afterward with "Beat It". Radical.
But just like its vinyl predecessor, a cassette tape only allowed listeners to play from track one to the end. No skipping tracks. No shuffling albums.
Life is the same way. You can't skip around to your favorite parts. You have to stick with it from the beginning to the end, taking the bad with the good. And that can be exhausting.
That's why it is so important to pause from time to time. Pausing allows you to take a breath, collect yourself, and then carry on where you left off. In life and in music, it lets you come back with a fresh perspective and new appreciation. Taking that break has a way of making things much more enjoyable afterward.
Stopping is just giving up. If you are working towards a lofty goal in your life, chances are there will be plenty of difficulties along the way. Don't let them stop you. Nothing worth having ever came easily. So when life gets hard, stick it out—you can never tell how close you are to catching a break.
This original canvas wall artwork is a retro visualization of an important lesson: "Pause if You Must. But Don't Stop." Life has to be experienced fully, from beginning to end. Sometimes you have to get through a lot of bad songs to get to a favorite, but it will come in time. So don't be afraid to hit the pause button. Recover, regain your strength, and then continue the tape.
