THE ORIGIN
While most people have heard the story of Rocky
(the underdog boxer who ends up fighting for the title)
few actually know what it took to make the movie.
It is one of the most inspiring stories of all time.
Three and a half days.
That’s how long it took for Sylvester Stallone to write the script for Rocky
after watching the championship match between
Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner..
The script was shopped around but was repeatedly rejected
because Stallone insisted he be cast as Rocky.
He wasn't well known at the time and no one wanted
to pay for a movie with a nobody as the main character.
He was at an all time low.
No car. $106 in the bank.
He even sold his dog for $50 to pay the bills. 
The movie needed to happen at all costs.
He was willing to put up a fight for it.
Ironically, Stallone we becoming the identity of Rocky in his real life.
He was already playing the main character.
He eventually found producers to give him $1Million to make the movie starring himself.
Even in the 1970s...that was an extremely low budget.
Didn't matter though. It was all he needed.
They used family and friends in the cast, handheld cameras,
and filming most of the movie in one take.
Rocky was officially born.
